The Omega Tender Readies for Launch

The renowned Dutch megayacht designers Frank Laupman and Perry van Oossanen, the naval architects behind the 213-foot multiple-award-winning Heesen-built yacht Galactica Star, have teamed up again—this time for a considerably smaller but nonetheless promising project. Under Laupman’s brand, Omega Architects, the duo has designed a 31-foot limousine tender—the firm’s first tender. Laupman and van Oossanen designed the tender with a similar forward-leaning structure to that of the 240-foot megayacht that will house it. Additional design elements include a curved glass superstructure, a high-performance hull, and a pop-up hardtop awning above the helm, which is located aft. The Omega tender will seat as many as 10 passengers and reach a top speed of 36 knots. The tender’s host ship is currently under construction at a shipyard in Ancona, Italy, while the tender itself is being built by Hutting Yachts in Makkum, the Netherlands. The Omega tender is scheduled to enter sea trials this month. (www.omega-architects.com)
