Stuck Waiting for Your Flight? Go for a Spin in a Porsche
Layovers have long been the bane of jet-setters’ existence, but Lufthansa has finally figured out how to solve the insufferable problem. The German airline is now offering first-class passengers and private-jet guests in Frankfurt and Munich the opportunity to rent a Porsche 911 or Panamera for an afternoon of sightseeing prior to departure. Available on the day of travel for all Lufthansa, Swiss, and Austrian Airlines passengers holding first-class tickets, the Porsche First Class Excitement service can turn a boring wait into a memorable experience.
Passengers can book the car of their choice in advance online or make a decision once they arrive based on which sports cars are currently available. Lufthansa First Class Personal Assistants will complete reservations in the First Class Lounge. Passengers can then make the most of their layover by driving through Munich, lower Bavaria, or the subalpine countryside. Once back at the airport, the first-class experience will resume as expected: A limousine carts travelers straight to the aircraft, where food prepared by world-class chefs will be waiting. Passengers who are tuckered out after a day of driving can retire to their 6-foot lie-flat seats on the plane.
A three-hour rental, which includes gas, insurance, and 93 driving miles, costs about $110; each additional mile costs about $1.10. (lufthansa.com)
