The Beechcraft-Based Nextant G90XT Turboprop Plane Completes Its First Flight

  • Mary Grady

The Nextant G90XT turboprop, a remanufactured airplane based on a Beechcraft King Air C90A airframe, flew for the first time in mid-January. The Nextant G90XT features two new General Electric H75-100 engines and a Garmin G1000 avionics system that uses three large LCD screens. The airframe is given fresh paint and cabin upgrades that include digital pressurization, dual-zone air-conditioning, new seats, and a workstation. It is quieter and more powerful than the original King Air plane. Flight tests are expected to last about six weeks; the aircraft should be fully certified and beginning deliveries by this summer.

The G90XT will cruise at about 322 mph and fly for almost 1,400 miles nonstop. An all-new electronic engine control system provides full auto-start capability and single-lever power control for both the engine and the propellers. The plane can fly with two pilots and up to six passengers. The cabin features fine hardwoods and leather and is equipped with the latest in integrated digital communication and entertainment technologies. The airplane is the second model in the remanufactured line by Nextant, which first offered the Beechjet-based 400XTi business jet in 2011. The G90XT sells for $2.6 million. (nextantaerospace.com)
