The Best of the Best 2003: Personal Aircraft - Pilatus PC-12

One Pilatus PC-12 owner piles his guns and ammunition into the plane when he goes on hunting trips. Sauber Petronas, the Formula One race team, employs its PC-12 to fly its engines and spare parts to races throughout Europe. Such transport capabilities are rare in single-engine turboprops, but the nine-passenger PC-12—the economy configuration includes two additional seats—features plenty of room for luggage and guests while offering a level of performance that is comparable to other aircraft in its class.

The $3.3 million PC-12 cruises at 310 mph, fast enough for an F/1 team hustling to the next track. However, the PC-12 is no mere hauler of luggage and equipment. The Swiss machine can be ordered in an executive configuration that includes six passenger seats—swiveling leather models that are a must when taking advantage of the PC-12’s 2,600-mile range.
