Thierry Pouille, founder and president of Air Journey, recently returned from his fourth trip around the world, leading a group of 21 pilots in five private aircraft. Over 77 days of travel, Pouille and his flock visited 29 countries, staying in luxury resorts and hotels along the way including the Dorchester in London, Amanruya in Turkey, and the Four Seasons Resort Langkawi in Malaysia.

“Over the whole trip, with family members and friends who joined in for different legs, we traveled with 36 people,” says Pouille. At each stop, time is allocated for a mix of planned tours and independent exploration. On this year’s trip, Pouille escorted the flock in his own Cessna Citation Mustang for the first time. On next year’s trip, he says he will offer travelers a chance to log time in the jet; he has made arrangements with a flight school in Stewart, Fla., to provide training in the aircraft before the trip. The new jet pilots then can join the Mustang’s flight crew for one of five legs of the journey.

The Journey around the World 2015—scheduled for May 12 through July 25 and priced at $88,895 per person, plus $20,950 per aircraft—will depart from Quebec City and cover some 29,000 miles. Pouille and his team take care of all the trip planning, weather briefings, flight charts, customs, fuel stops, ground transportation, hotel reservations, meals, and excursions, so that pilots can focus on flying and enjoying the journey.
