The Private Aviation Membership Club Surf Air Adds Aircraft and Expands Its Flight Network
Riding a tidal wave of growth, the Santa Monica, Calif.–based private aviation membership club Surf Air will increase its network by 40 percent this year with five new Pilatus PC-12 NG business turboprops flying to four additional California destinations. (The company currently operates only in California.) Service to Santa Rosa begins May 22, with Monterey, Sacramento, and Palm Springs on deck for the following months. The 45 new daily departures will double the club’s service, which already carries passengers to San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, Santa Barbara, Carlsbad, and Los Angeles.
Members can pay either $1,750 per month (which includes a complimentary round-trip guest ticket each quarter) or $2,250 per month (which includes a guest ticket each month). All rates include access to private terminals and unlimited travel (dependent on schedule) aboard the Swiss-made Pilatus PC-12 NG. Capable of 322 mph at top speed and a maximum operating altitude of 30,000 feet, the single-engine turboprop features a business-class interior that accommodates eight passengers. With membership expected to reach 3,000 this year alone, Surf Air plans to add 50 more planes by 2020 to handle the oncoming swell. (surfair.com)
