The Beijing-based tour operator Imperial Tours has teamed up with Presidential Private Jet Vacations for a new travel package that takes guests on an incredible journey through China via private jet. While each trip is completely customizable, the package offers a 17-day sample itinerary that includes visits to Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong, among other cities, in addition to tours of more rural and scenic areas (to take in views of tranquil rice paddies and picturesque waterfalls), and to such historic sites as the Great Wall of China and the terra-cotta warriors of Xi’an.

The number of guests, type of aircraft, and destinations will ultimately determine the price of the trip. However, the sample itinerary is priced from $72,800 per person for a group of 30 guests flying from the U.S. East Coast aboard a private version of an Airbus A321 jetliner, which seats as many as 185 passengers when configured for commercial flight; the private version offers large couches and lounges, dining tables, a full galley, and other niceties to ensure comfort. The private A321 (or a similar aircraft) is available for groups of more than 18 people. Smaller groups have access to smaller long-range jets, such as a Gulfstream GV. Presidential Aviation, the charter and jet-management parent company of Presidential Private Jet Vacations, operates the aircraft as on-demand charter flights. The price of the tour covers onboard gourmet catering, hotel accommodations, some meals and activities, and ground transportation, as well as private guides and historians to provide travellers insider access and insight to some of China’s most iconic destinations.
