Alsace is a region known for cuisine that combines the soulfulness of rural French cooking with the rich, earthy flavors of its neighbor, Germany. Among chefs and gastronomes alike, the restaurant of choice is L’Auberge de l’Ill. It is located in Illhaeusern, a remote village with no apparent reason for existing other than as an epicurean mecca. The restaurant, which has been run by the Haeberlin family for decades, serves true Alsatian dishes such as rabbit salad and the tastiest goose foie gras on earth.

The service is warm and welcoming, offering you a sense of belonging, as if you are visiting the country home of your French grandmother, who happens to be a genius in the kitchen.
