Pierre Morey 2006 Meursault Perrières Premier Cru

Pierre Morey, who was designated cellar master at Domaine Leflaive in 1990, resigned from that position last year to focus his attention completely on his own domaine, founded in 1971, and on a négociant business, Morey-Blanc. His family has been in the winemaking profession in Burgundy since the late 18th century, and this long tradition shows in his wines, which are some of the best-articulated expressions of terroir to be found in the Côte d’Or. (The domaine has been biodynamic for more than a decade.)Intense and creamy, the Pierre Morey 2006 Meursault Perrières Premier Cru (www.morey-meursault.fr, $170) is a gorgeous wine that shows sweet oak, racy fruit, almonds, and spice, and glides slowly on a lingering finish.
