Footwear: Silvano Lattanzi

Kiton featherweight cotton sport shirt, from $450; Italo Ferretti silk ties, starting at $185 each; Zilli blue alligator briefcase, $22,000; and Silvano Lattanzi custom-made leather shoe with medallion detail, $5,300 per pair.

This spring, the Italian shoemaker Silvano Lattanzi—known for his distinctive, highly durable footwear—unveiled a collection featuring toquila, the Ecuadoran straw used to make traditional Panama hats. Lattanzi combined the grassy material with leather bearing his signature hand-patinaed finish, using the pairing in spectator shoes, loafers, and ankle boots. Additional novel footwear designs that Lattanzi has introduced over the past year include lightweight, boldly colored glove-suede loafers with flexible soles—a marked departure from his exotic-skin and fine-grain calfskin brogues with their indestructible Goodyear welted soles. The designer continues to experiment with unconventional materials and new concepts, but with the fundamental goal of creating comfortable, practical men’s shoes.
