54 IPS

Vicem’s 54 IPS, which made its debut in early 2010, combines the best of Vicem’s old-world craftsmanship with the latest in propulsion technology. The Turkish yacht builder has turned the art of wooden boatbuilding into a science with its down-east-looking 54, made of cold-molded mahogany. But Volvo’s pod drives (which let owners control the boat by a joystick) transform the 54 into a very nimble boat. The Vicem line is not for every boater, but for those who appreciate stunning woodwork, inside and out, the IPS system should make it much more attractive.
