575

The Oyster 575, launched in early 2010, is an evolutionary design for the venerable English builder. The 59-foot cruiser, with its sleek deck and spacious cockpit, was designed by Rob Humphreys for optimal blue-water cruising but in the lap of comfort. Oyster, which has more than 120 55s and 56s in commission, has more experience in this category than any other builder. But Humphreys outdid himself with the design of the 575, with its twin-wheel cockpit, roomy salon, and four staterooms. As one would expect from Oyster, the American oak joinery on the first hull was impeccable (cherry, teak, and maple are also available). One of the staterooms can be turned into a crew’s quarters, and, in fact, Oyster works with owners to customize the yacht. The 575 is a nice balance between performance, sailing prowess, and comfort wrapped in a quality package.
