The Dutch have long left an imprint on the world of yachting. In fact, the word “yacht” originates from the Dutch word “jacht,” which means “hunt,” because the Dutch navy originally used fast, yacht-like vessels to pursue pirates and other bandits. Over time, the concept of a yacht transformed from a navy vessel to a pleasure cruiser—but the Dutch influence on the yacht industry never wavered. In June, Holland-based Amels shipyard presented its largest superyacht to date, the 272-foot Here Comes the Sun superyacht. Launched from the Amels shipyard in Vlissingen (about two hours from Amsterdam), the ship is slated to be delivered by the end of the year. With an exterior designed by Tim Heywood and interiors overseen by Winch Design, the graceful ship exudes poise and power. Equipped with six decks, the yacht provides plenty of options for entertaining. (amels-holland.com
