Front Runners September 2015: Drop Top

  • New version of the Horizon Yachts E78 features a hydraulic hard top that descends (or rises) in 15 minutes to reduce the yacht’s height from nearly 29 feet to just over 20 feet.

As some boaters know all too well, the heights of fixed bridges across waterways can limit where you cruise or how big the vessel can be in which you cruise. This problem is addressed by a new version of the Horizon Yachts E78 (us.horizonyacht.com) built for the U.S. market in general and the Great Lakes region in particular. The motor yacht’s flybridge features a hydraulic hard top that descends (or rises) in 15 minutes to reduce the yacht’s height from nearly 29 feet to just over 20 feet. The E78, which is built at the Horizon yard in Taiwan, is priced at about $4.6 million.
