Futuristic Yacht Hits the Seas

Fraser Yachts has unveiled a one-of-a-kind creation: the 169-foot Hollander, a hybrid motoryacht featuring a futuristic take on a timeless design. Constructed using lightweight aluminum, the design team (with the help of Azure Naval Architects and Hoek Design) created the first yacht below 500 GT using a power-pack system — a hybrid propulsion package of five generators that account for the total onboard power. The Hollander uses 35 percent less fuel than equivalent motoryachts of its size, which means it meets the highest expectations in terms of environmental friendliness on the seas. Compact and lightweight water-cooled alternators, electric motors, and power converters save space and reduce weight, while the foredeck can easily adapt between tender storage and a helipad. The yacht comprises four guest cabins and four crew cabins, including a separate staircase for crew, as well as the owner’s stateroom and formal dining area. The Hollander, named for the place it was designed, engineered, and built, can accommodate up to 10 passengers. (www.fraseryachts.com)
