When Billy Joel needs to get from his home in Long Island to New York City, he uses his 57-foot commuter boat Vendetta, a reliable yet rapid vessel designed by Zurn Yacht Design, based in Marblehead, Mass.

The Grammy Award–winning singer-songwriter shared his vision for a simple, no-frills boat with the designers, who delivered a fully customized, 1920s-style runabout that is both sleek and sturdy. Accommodating up to six guests in four separate chairs and a twin bench seat, the boat features ample cockpit space, a raised galley area with a dining table, and two settees. Powered by twin 1,300 hp diesel engines, the ship, when pressed, can top out at 47 knots. Built in 2005, the boat was first shown publicly at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in 2015.

Buyers eager to helm a personalized boat of their own can work alongside Zurn Yacht Design to figure out the style of boat they want and what type of features they desire. The designers will then create a one-of-a-kind ship worthy of the Piano Man himself. (zurnyachts.com
