Introducing the RMK 5000 Explorer Yacht Concept

Amanda Millin

The Turkish yacht builder RMK Marine and the acclaimed Italian design firm Hot Labs Yacht & Design have unveiled details on the much-anticipated RMK 5000 Explorer concept. Designed to perform like a rugged explorer vessel, the 164-foot megayacht will be equipped with an ice-class hull and will have a gross weight below 500 tons, with either diesel or electric propulsion packages providing long-range cruising. The vessel will be available in two variations: the Leisure and the Luxury Explorer, both of which offer fully customizable interiors, an aft beach club, and space for 11 passengers in four cabins, each with an en suite bathroom. The Luxury Explorer’s aft deck features a helipad and room to stow a 30-foot tender, a submarine, a hovercraft, personal watercraft, and diving equipment. The Leisure replaces the helipad with a 20-foot-long pool, in addition to offering a Jacuzzi on the sundeck. In this layout, a 30-foot tender can be stowed in the lazaret and launched with a mechanical crane. RMK and Hot Labs plan to reveal complete details on the concept at the 2013 Monaco Yacht Show, taking place from September 25 to 28. (www.rmkmarine.com)
