After a long summer of preparation, the yachting world’s finest new models will gather on the Cannes waterfront in early September. The Yachting Festival of Cannes (September 6 through 11) marks the start of the new season, with about a quarter of the yachts making their official global premieres on the French Riviera. Aficionados travel from all over the world to see what the top shipyards have to offer. As the recovery of the industry strengthens, competition seems to be heating up across all categories this year. The Italian kings of design will dominate—at least in terms of numerical superiority—but the finest shipyards from the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, the United States, and France are also launching equally beautiful, innovative designs. Judging from the sneak-peeks at Cannes, it’s going to be a great year for yachting.
