Vicem Yachts is renowned for its Down East–style cruisers made from cold-molded wood and epoxy. So the Turkish builder’s entry into the megayacht market, with the Vulcan line, has caused quite a stir. The first launch in the line, the recently delivered Vulcan 46 M Tri-Deck, is still as much a Vicem as the company’s smaller sister ships, despite its 151-foot length and composite construction. The Vulcan 46 M places continued emphasis on solid performance, thanks to the naval architect Frank Mulder, who ensured the yacht’s relatively light weight. Vicem says the 460 ton Vulcan 46 M can achieve a top speed of 26 knots and enjoy a range of 4,000 nautical miles at 12 knots. Power comes courtesy of twin 3,650 hp MTU engines. The yacht’s interiors, from the saloon to the six staterooms, features a design from Art-Line Interior Design, which blends richly colored wood and light-toned fabrics for a striking contrast, with ample space provided by the yacht’s more than 30-foot beam. The Vulcan 46 M also has a 45-foot-high atrium, which extends from the sundeck to the lower deck, allowing for an incredible amount of natural light. (www.vicemyacht.com)
