Among the finest conduits for playing music from an untethered digital device are the KEF X300A wireless speakers (www.kef.com). Priced at $1,000 a pair, each speaker is equipped with KEF’s patented Uni-Q coaxial driver and two onboard power amps, enabling them to deliver highs and lows with all the gusto of wired speakers. While the X300As easily sync wirelessly with most smartphones, tablets, and computers, they also have a built-in digital-to-analog converter that allows wired USB playback of files with resolutions as high as 24 bits/96 kHz.
