Private Preview 2005: Resolution Revolution

<< Back to Robb Report, October 2004

Although U.S. residents have enjoyed high-definition television for years, TVs that can actually display the full 1,920-by-1,080-pixel resolution of HDTV have only just emerged. One of the first was Sony’s Qualia 004 projector, 2004’s most eagerly anticipated video product. The Qualia has earned a position in many custom home theaters, but video enthusiasts wondered when the projector’s SXRD technology might make its way into a more living room–friendly format. The answer is early 2005, when a new Sony Grand Wega rear-projection TV with SXRD technology debuts. The price and model number for the set have yet to be determined.
