Front Runners July 2015: Hold Everything

  • The Ephtée Palace shoe trunk custom-built in Bourdeaux.

Custom-built in Bordeaux, France, the Ephtée Palace shoe trunk (ephtee.com) includes a built-in shoeshine counter, drawers for shoeshine tools, and space to neatly store 32 pairs of shoes. “You can go anywhere around the globe, and when you open your trunk, you are back in your world,” says Ephtée’s founder, Frank Tressens. The company’s bespoke luggage and trunks range from small watch boxes to enormous wardrobe cases. They are available in leather, suede, or exotic skins and can be equipped with a wide choice of hardware, from brass to diamond-studded platinum. Prices for Ephtée’s items start at about $2,000; a complicated custom trunk can cost as much as $500,000.
