Front Runners July 2015: Singular Vision

  • The new sunglasses brand Finlay & Co.
  • Paige Reddinger

The new sunglasses brand Finlay & Co. (finlayandco.com) was started by four young British men who wanted to create handmade wood frames with a personalized touch. “Our designs are inspired by the individual, not the collective,” says Dane Butler, one of the cofounders. It takes 16 steps to craft a single pair of frames such as the 1950s-style Beaumont wayfarers, which are shown here in walnut and priced at $255. Frames can be personalized with initials or names engraved on the temples. In addition to wood models, the latest collection includes metal and acetate frames.
