Front Runners September 2015: A Better Cashmere
In time for the arrival of cooler weather, Cruciani (cruciani.net) has unveiled a new type of cashmere that does more than just keep you warm. The Italian knitwear brand’s research on various threads has yielded this handcrafted turtleneck ($835) made from Mongolian 15-micron cashmere fibers that measure just short of 2 inches in length. The material is resistant to pilling because the exceptionally long and thin thread enables tight milling. The sweater is made at the company’s workshop in Umbria, the Italian region whose landscapes are abstractly depicted on it.
