FrontRunners: Match Makers

Perfect Copy (877.535.8880, www.perfect-copy.com), a custom service of the Individually Suited tailoring firm in Portland, Ore., promises eternal life for out-of-production wardrobe items and favorite vestments that have become too worn for wear. “In most cases, we have the resources to locate the same or similar fabric to have an exact copy manufactured,” says Carol Bentley, who offers the apparel duplication service with her business partner, Bland McCartha. Perfect Copy’s clients describe the garments they want replicated to a wardrobe consultant before receiving fabric samples, order forms, and an overnight courier box in the mail. They send the clothes with any special instructions, including colors or buttons different from those of the original, and in about four weeks receive their remade suits ($700 to $6,500), shirts ($150 to $450), overcoats ($750 to $10,000), or other items. Should a perfect copy prove less than a perfect fit, the company will make alterations free of charge.
