Often dismissed as too conservative, the plaid jacket has been given a stylish makeover for fall. The new interpretations of plaid are bolder than the traditional patterns and feature richer hues. Jackets for this season are made from soft, supple materials. A standout is the $3,025 Isaia wool-and-cashmere double-faced plaid jacket (www.isaia.it) shown here. “The bolder patterns are among the favorites of our design team,” says Gianluca Isaia, the president of the Neapolitan menswear brand, which has been working with plaid since its founding in the 1930s. “We work to interpret them every season in different fabric blends and rich, sophisticated color palettes.”
