Fashion leaders share their favorite apparel and accessories for spring, including a bright gingham jacket and sleek loafers—pieces that can update a classic look or serve as the building blocks of a smart, functional wardrobe.

"Style is most potent when it is least complicated," says Tom Ford. "Finely made things add meaning and grace to life. Each pair of shoes in the collection is made in Neapolitan workshops over a three-week process of stitching, polishing, and resting the leather."

"The Cool Effect blazer offers the ultimate protection against heat produced by natural sunlight—the fabric simply reflects the sun’s rays," says Gildo Zegna, chief executive officer of Ermenegildo Zegna. "An ideal jacket for those living in warmer climates or for frequent travelers such as myself, the Cool Effect blazer takes sophisticated Italian style to the next level."

"The cotton, wool, and silk Isaia suit in the brown tone is perfect for spring," says Mario Bisio, president of Mario’s, of Seattle and Portland. "We love to pop the natural tone with a dash of color. The teal-striped dress shirt and complementary tie really say ‘spring’ in a subtle but rich manner."

"The Canali K jacket is one of the most versatile items in the collection, and a must-have for every man," says Elisabetta Canali, global communication director for the Sovico, Italy–based Canali. "Available in double-faced cashmere and silk, the two-button jacket has a distinct lining, making it both lightweight and comfortable. It transitions from the office to after-hours with ease and is an elegant addition to any man’s wardrobe."

"The must-have piece for the season is the degrade sweater—an unusual touch to a formal staple," says Massimiliano Giornetti, men’s creative director for Salvatore Ferragamo. "Unexpected flashes of color inspired by magical India—amazing yellows, glazing oranges, brilliant fuchsias, and imperial azures—embark on a journey through Indian dyeing techniques."

"Denim is a very important element to make an outfit look sportier," says Brunello Cucinelli. "The vintage feel of our jeans is easily matched with both casual and classic blazers; our jeans step out from the idea of traditional denim, maintaining our timeless style."

"A gingham sport coat in a bright color is the must-have for spring," says Tommy Fazio, fashion director for Bergdorf Goodman Men’s store. "Mixing color with a sport coat is a cool new way to look sharp."
