Chef Gordon Ramsay Turns Over the Reins
Following a four-week refurbishment, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in London will not only feature fresh interiors; it will feature a fresh culinary presence, with Clare Smyth as the new head chef. Ramsay’s naming Smyth to lead his namesake restaurant—which was also his first solo venture, and is a 12-time recipient of three Michelin stars—is a testament to his trust in her.
Smyth, who has worked with Ramsay for more than 10 years and previously cooked at Alain Ducasse’s Le Louis XV in Monte Carlo, has put her stamp on Ramsay’s menu with an oven-roasted pigeon dish served with sautéed foie gras, smoked ventreche, grilled polenta, braised shallots, and date sauce; and a lemonade parfait with honey, bergamot, and a sorbet made from sheep’s-milk yogurt.
Additionally, the restaurant has added a chef’s table (available by invitation) for six guests to dine on a custom menu while interacting with Smyth, as well as a liquor library that features an expansive stock of rare spirits for guests to choose from. (+44.20.7352.4441, www.gordonramsay.com)
