A Five-Day Festival Dedicated to Napa Valley Wine and Food

Chefs Todd English, Michael Chiarello, Christopher Kostow, and Masaharu Morimoto are headlining this year’s Flavor! Napa Valley Wine and Food Festival, from November 20 to 24. The five-day event, which features Napa Valley wineries and chefs along with graduates of the Culinary Institute of America, presents workshops, tastings, and demonstrations led by chefs, 25 local winemakers, the wine expert Jon Bonné (author of The Wine Bible), and the master sommeliers Andrea Robinson and Larry Stone.

Hardcore oenophiles can participate in hands-on courses like the Wine Lovers Boot Camp ($795)—a two-day intensive course on the science and techniques behind wine pairings—or attendees can learn over a leisurely dinner with the winemakers at Meritage Resort and Spa ($165). At that event, each group of 10 guests will be seated with a different winemaker, who will compose his or her own pairings for dishes like Brussels sprouts with huckleberry jus; duck confit; roasted venison loin and matsutake mushrooms; chestnut-bacon bread pudding; and more.

The festival will kick off with a dinner at the Silverado Resort and Spa ($325) in honor of Napa wineries and winemakers who are celebrating major milestones this year. Honorees include Cakebread Cellars and Chandon, marking their 40th anniversaries, and the Louis M. Martini winery, celebrating its 80th. The menu—prepared by Masaharu Morimoto, Roy Choi, Karen Mitchell, Todd English, Larry Forgione, Sarah Mitchell Hansen, Jeffrey Jake, and Richard Reddington—will include dishes like rabbit agnolotti with local ceps mushrooms and fresh burrata fondue topped with shaved white truffles.
