The recent expansion of the Le Miyako restaurant at the Beau-Rivage Palace in Lausanne, Switzerland—which was completed in March—increased the restaurant’s capacity by 40 percent, including additional outdoor terrace seating. It also added a teppanyaki table with seating for 10 guests. First opened in 2007, the specialty Japanese restaurant gained acclaim for its sushi and sashimi. But the new renovation allows the restaurant to excel at another type of Japanese cooking as well: teppanyaki (Japanese for “grilled on an iron plate”). It is an artful form of cooking in which skilled chefs prepare traditional Japanese dishes at high temperatures on a griddle built into the long table, entertaining the guests with their culinary prowess, remarkable knife skills, and flambéed sauces. Created to engage all five senses, teppanyaki provides a memorable dining experience ideal for families or groups.

In addition to updating Le Miyako, Beau-Rivage Palace completed a $28 million renovation of 100 rooms and suites. Each room uses mirrors to reflect light from Lake Geneva, illuminating the space. Junior suites are outfitted with Murano blown-glass chandeliers, and each room features a fabric-covered wall. Situated on 10 acres of private gardens, Beau-Rivage Palace offers stunning views of Lake Geneva and the Swiss Alps. After spending a day at the resort’s tennis courts, bars, pools, or spa, guests are sure to work up an appetite—and they won’t have far to go for authentic Japanese cuisine. (brp.ch)
