Chef Daniel Boulud’s newest venture is a two-volume set of books called Cocktails & Amuse-Bouches For Her and For Him ($50), which debuts in Assouline book stores this month. Written in collaboration with mixologist Xavier Herit, the collection features separate women’s and men’s books, each comprising 20 cocktails and 10 amuse-bouche recipes from Boulud’s Manhattan restaurant Daniel.
Designed for entertaining, and geared specifically to the culinary palates and preferences of men and women, the books presents recipes for drinks and hors d’oeuvres that incorporate ingredients such as teas, spices, herbs, and seasonal produce. A few highlights include the Duke, from the men’s book, a modern version of the Negroni—vermouth, orange bitters, and Cognac—served in a hollow ice ball, and appetizers include tempura squash blossoms and black olive grissini.
