BottleRock Napa Valley Brings Wine-Country Refinement to the Rock Festival

The $3,000 Platinum pass ensures the finest food, drink, and access…

Music festivals can often feel like the aural equivalent of an all-you-can-eat buffet, but BottleRock Napa Valley is bringing 12-course-tasting-menu refinement to its three-day, wine-country music festival by adding, among other new touches, a literal tasting menu prepared by top chefs. This year’s BottleRock Napa Valley takes place May 29 to 31 at the Napa Valley Expo exposition grounds.

Though VIP tickets to the event are available ($595), they pale in comparison to the Platinum pass, which is available for $3,000 and is limited to less than one percent of the festival’s estimated 30,000 attendees a day. The pass provides unfettered access, starting with valet parking at the venue (complete with a welcome pour of Schramsberg sparkling wine) and an exclusive air-conditioned lounge decked out by the St. Helena–based designer Erin Martin. In the lounge, a cadre of master sommeliers will pour rare selections alongside such Napa standbys as Silver Oak, and chefs like the truffle expert Ken Frank of La Toque and Michelin-starred Richard Reddington of Redd will prepare daily tasting menus.

The tickets also grant access to the stage and exclusive meet-and-greets with the musicians, which may include the Led Zeppelin legend Robert Plant, a mix of old favorites like No Doubt and the Gipsy Kings, and buzzy newcomers like the South by Southwest–festival darling Courtney Barnett. Pass holders will be able to watch the shows from all the best seats in the house, including the backstage wings of the main stage; an area in front of the stage; and, truly the best place to hear, a reserved area next to the sound-mixing board in the middle of all the action. As any audiophile will tell you, the soundman always snags the best spot. (bottlerocknapavalley.com)
