Camille Giroud 2008 Corton-Charlemagne

Founded in 1865, this négociant in the heart of Burgundy was purchased in 2002 by Napa Valley vintner Ann Colgin and her husband, Joe Wender. Under their careful direction, young winemaker David Croix—whom some members of the wine press have referred to as a genius—renders stellar examples of both red and white Burgundy from the region’s finest vineyards. Even among these, however, Croix’s deliciously mineral and mouth-watering Corton-Charlemagne stands out. ($200)
