Tasting Notes This is a muscular single malt, with layer upon layer of complexities, including red berries, oranges, lemon, nuts, and cedar. Worth Knowing Master Blender Richard Paterson has outdone himself with this masterpiece, a compilation of whiskies that have been aging in French wine barriques, Madeira drums, sherry butts, Sicilian marsala barrels, port pipes, and bourbon barrels for the past 20 to 40 years, and then combined. It is named in honor of the Scottish king who, in 1263, was saved by the Clan MacKenzie’s founder from being gored by a stag. In gratitude, the king gave the Clan MacKenzie permission to use the royal stag as an emblem, and it appears on every bottle of The Dalmore to this day.
