FrontRunners: Revolutionary Rack

<< Back to Robb Report, Unique Machines

Doug Mccain’s frustration with his wine cellar’s traditional storage racks threatened to grow as large as his 3,000-bottle collection. Standing in front of the racks, all he could see was foil, so the former engineer decided to do something about it. After four years of working on the solution, he and his Colorado company, Wine Master Cellars (866.650.1500, www.winemastercellars.com), created the VintageView wine rack, which was designed so that bottles can be stored with the labels facing outward.

The VintageView, which is available in a variety of sizes and designs, offers advantages besides ease of selection. Wine label design has been elevated to an art form, and a wall of such labels creates a tapestry that can be enjoyed either as a whole or in fine detail. Choosing the proper vintage can be as warm and rewarding an experience as sharing that first sip from the glass.
