FrontRunners: Select Smoke

<< Back to Robb Report, Reader’s Choice

Haling any new product as a classic usually seems premature, but you might find it difficult to disagree with such an assessment after sampling a La Gloria Cubana Artesanos de Miami. With its accessible, medium-bodied flavor and subtle hints of spice, this cigar recalls the elegant, balanced smokes of decades past. La Gloria’s cigar master, Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, created Artesanos de Miami to celebrate his company’s roots in Miami’s Little Havana district. Ten torcedores, each selected by Perez-Carrillo, roll the cigars in the company’s Miami factory using a Nicaraguan wrapper, an Ecuadorean Sumatra binder, and Nicaraguan and Dominican filler. Five sizes are available, including the 6-inch, 54-ring Gran Corona Especial shown here. ($325 for a box of 25 gran coronas)

A classic cigar demands a timeless setting, such as the Art Deco–influenced Prometheus Sky Building ashtray. Gold inlaid geometric patterns lend a vintage look to the Sky Building’s bone-china foundation. ($59.95)
