Gordon & MacPhail Releases World’s Oldest Whisky

After decades of anticipation, family-owned Scottish spirit and wine producer Gordon & MacPhail has finally unveiled its Mortlach 70 Years Old Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky, the oldest in the world. The first in the distiller’s exceptionally rare “Generations” series, the Mortlach 70 Years Old has already merited high praise from such connoisseurs as Charles MacLean, who deemed the spirit “remarkable” and called it “a delicate fresh, vital, fruity whisky, but with unusual attributes of waxiness and smokiness.”

To commemorate the rare offering, Scotland’s Navyblue Design fashioned a tear-shaped, hand-blown crystal bottle and sterling-silver topper for the Mortlach 70 Years Old, which is available in 54 700 ml and 162 200 ml decanters. These rare containers sit on a sophisticated silver base for display and come in a handmade Brazilian rosewood box. The 92-proof whisky retails for about $3,720 for the 200 ml decanter and $14,880 for the 700 ml decanter. (+44.134.354.5111, www.gordonandmacphail.com)
