The well-known scotch brand Johnnie Walker has opened a four-story club in Beijing where its devoted patrons can taste and purchase rare whiskies, participate in blending sessions, host private events, and more. Following the opening of its first members-only club in Shanghai in 2011, the invitation-only Johnnie Walker House Beijing offers three levels of membership, which range from about $6,000 for one year to more than $128,000 for two years’ VIP status.
The Beijing club offers members a rare opportunity to confer with the brand’s master blender, Jim Beveridges, and create a bespoke scotch blend based on their taste preferences in the Master Blenders Suite. Modeled after the Johnnie Walker blending rooms in Scotland, the suite is stocked with single-malt whiskies, blending equipment, and Beveridges’s private whisky stock. On the club’s first floor is the Striding Man Bar, where members can enjoy whisky and food pairings; the third floor is home to the Churchill cigar room, which houses a selection of cigars, and the Odyssey Lounge, where private lockers are available for members’ own collections.
Members have access to a selection of rare whiskies exclusively available at the Johnnie Walker House Beijing, including the Epic Dates Collection (from $3,550)—a set of limited-edition blends that honor the most important years in Johnnie Walker’s history—and the new Master Blender Series of specially crafted whiskies aged at least 30 years, which debuts in April.
