Lancaster Estate Nicole’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 1999

Best known for its Proprietary Red, the Alexander Valley estate produced a mere 150 cases of this exquisite single-vineyard reserve Cabernet Sauvignon in 1999. Intensely balanced with tremendous breadth of flavor (from black cherry to savory cedar), this tightly structured, vibrant cabernet lingers long, enveloping the palette. Rudd Chardonnay Russian River Valley Bacigalupi Vineyard 1999

This exceptionally fine single-vineyard Chardonnay is made from the grapes of 40-year-old Wente clones—reputedly the same ones used for the legendary 1973 Château Montelena Chardonnay chosen in the 1976 Paris tasting. Rich with pear and cheese essences, this long-finishing white was aged in 70 percent new French oak for 20 months. ($50) 707.944.8577

The Macallan Cask Strength

This 10-year-old Speyside represents the latest addition to the distiller’s notable pantheon, introduced to the U.S. market in 2002. Undiluted from cask to bottle, this rich, reddish, heady whisky is 58.8 percent alcohol by volume. This power is made palatable by delightful toffee, orange, and allspice flavors, giving it a remarkably protracted finish with a peppery bite. A must-have for cask-strength enthusiasts.
