FrontRunners: Clear Shot

Known for its professional-grade cameras, the Swedish manufacturer Hasselblad is now taking a shot at the high-end amateur market with its new Hasselblad H4D-40 (www.hasselbladusa.com). Launched in February, the easy-to-use medium-format digital camera ($20,000) can capture up to 40-megapixel images. The H4D-40 also achieves greater image control than 35 mm film cameras and smaller-format DSLRs, thanks to Hasselblad’s True Focus and Absolute Position Lock technologies, which allow photographers to focus accurately on any point in the image area, even when working in a shallow depth of field.
