The Sonus Faber Venere S, for Signature, is the Italian speaker maker’s newest loudspeaker and now the flagship of its Venere collection. The collection launched three years ago, exemplifying the precision and craftsmanship of the 35-year-old brand.
The three-way, floor-standing loudspeaker (from $5,000 to $5,500, depending on finish) is hand-assembled and can perform equally well in a dedicated music-listening room or a home theater. Three proprietary woofers with aluminum cones and a silk-dome tweeter are isolated from the rest of the drivers in such a way that each woofer is able to operate more freely, creating clearer highs without interference. Rather than porting the woofers in front of or behind the loudspeaker, the Venere S ports directly downwards for additional purity by preventing air movement from interrupting the sound waves.
Consistent with the Sonus Faber legacy, the Venere S also features impeccable styling modeled after the shape of a lyre. Beyond eye-catching aesthetics, this unique silhouette has no parallel surfaces, thus minimizing resonance, and its cabinet is carefully tuned to ensure ideal sound projection. The Venere S comes in black, white, or wood and will be available this October. (sonusfaber.com)
