The French architect and interior decorator François-Joseph Graf combines an appreciation for extravagant, baroque styles with edgier, clean-lined contemporary designs for his new capsule collection of home decor items for Fendi Casa.

Graf, whose taste for the elaborate was first informed by the years he spent working under the curator at the Palace of Versailles in the 1980s, has crafted nine made-to-order designs for the Italian fashion house, including a sofa, an armchair, side tables, stools, and a cupboard. In addition to the striking contrasts Graf makes with sculpted dark oaks, light cherry wood, iridescent gold mica, silvery gray pine, leather, and silken fabrics, many of the items display an interpretation of Fendi’s trademark Pequin stripes and bold, puzzle-like “F” motif. The new furnishings display distinctive avant-garde elements, from black oak cupboards with finely striated cherry wood and unusual bright red metal drawer pulls to a dark wood, sharp-lined armchair in the Fendi motif with plush cushions and a back made of layered red lacquered wood and polished Coromandel ebony.
