Kartell and Emilio Pucci give the Madame chair a graphic advantage.

MILAN

In the 1950s, the inimitable Florentine designer Emilio Pucci delivered a spectacular volt of energy to the fashion world with his colorful, abstract prints. Now the Italian furnishings brand Kartell is showcasing four of the Pucci house’s latest creations (based on a limited-edition series of silk scarves) on its Philippe Starck–designed Madame chair ($990). The fluid modernity of the chair’s sleek polycarbonate frame, which is available in clear or black versions, is an ideal backdrop for the four designs, each of which celebrates a city that is home to a Pucci shop. The full lot—New York City’s swinging skyline, Rome’s Piazza di Spagna, Avenue Montaigne in Paris, and the cityscape of Shanghai—promises to find favor with Pucci devotees and itinerant design lovers everywhere.
