Design Seen: Sleep On It

} Hästens The venerable Swedish brand has long been revered for its beds made from natural materials. The Vividus (king size, $99,900), a solid-pine, flax-lined frame and coordinating mattress of cotton, wool, and horsehair, requires up to 160 hours of labor—exacting work the company entrusts to only two of its craftsmen. This fall, the brand will unveil a limited-edition Platinum bed, in a platinum-check fabric that also will be available for other beds, including the Vividus. 408.260.2100, www.hastens.com

} Savoir Beds Some 600 hours of craftsmanship are devoted to each of the beds in the London-based company’s latest series, which debuted this summer. Limited to just 60 examples, the Royal Bed incorporates Latin American horse-tail hair, Mongolian cashmere, hand-woven silk, and other fine materials that contribute to the $175,000 price tag. The Royal School of Needlework will embroider anything for the bed’s cornice, from initials to a family crest. +44.20.8838.4838, www.savoirbeds.co.uk

} Coco-Mat A four-layer bed (king size, $14,730) is a recent offering from the Greek company, which opened its first U.S. store last year in New York. The setup unites a box spring–like “bed-mattress” filled mostly with rubber and coconut fiber; a mattress stuffed with horsehair, cactus fiber, and seaweed; a “top-mattress” of rubber; and a goose-down topper. 212.431.2626, www.coco-mat.com

} Montage by Sealy Guests of the Montage resorts were asking to buy the hotel chain’s beds—so the company started selling them. Made by Sealy to Montage’s specs, the plush but moderately priced mattresses (king size with box spring, $2,099) are ideal for guest rooms and vacation homes. 877.715.6544, www.montageshops.com

} Flou The Italian brand’s new Total Body system features a mattress (king size, $4,500) and an all-season duvet, both of which contain bioceramic fiber enriched with silver ions. According to the company, combining the two creates a cocoon that helps promote better blood circulation during sleep. 888.356.8233, www.flou.com
