Madeline Weinrib Opens Textile and Home Product Pop-Up Store at Barneys New York
The globe-trotting artist and textile designer Madeline Weinrib has launched World of Influence, a pop-up store in the 9th-floor Chelsea Passage home department at Barneys New York. Running through Thanksgiving, the unique shop offers an exclusive collection curated by Weinrib that draws inspiration from the varied aesthetics and cultures she has encountered throughout her career and travels.
Priced from about $30 to $14,000, the collection features new rugs, hand-embroidered pillows, cashmere throws, and small tabletop accessories from Weinrib, along with vintage selections like Moroccan serving sets and hand-painted Uzbek teapots. Other highlights include a selection of dishes from the Viennese porcelain manufacturer Augarten Wien, vases from the jewelry designer Federico de Vera, a chandelier created by the New York design studio Apparatus, and a limited-edition series of prints by artist Billy Sullivan.
The pop-up store also spotlights a one-off, vintage 19th-century French settee reimagined and reupholstered by Weinrib that originally debuted at the Collective Design fair earlier this year. Priced at $14,000, the piece is dressed in Weinrib’s signature Ogaden fabric, which is dyed using the centuries-old ikat technique—a process of coloring yarn before it is woven—that has its roots in India, Japan, Uzbekistan, and Indonesia.
