Rocking Out

Samantha Brooks

Part rock ’n’ roll, part fine furniture, the new Embassy Wing Chair is a collaboration between the fashion designer Logan Riese and the Los Angeles–based furnishings company Phyllis Morris, in honor of the latter’s 60th anniversary. The one-of-a-kind, hand-carved piece, which is priced at $14,850, features embossed leather upholstery with leather appliqués and 22-karat gold leaf. “Logan’s leatherwork is all done by hand, as is our furniture, so by essentially dressing our chair in his ornate leatherwork, we have created a unique work of art,” says Jamie Adler, brand director of Phyllis Morris.

Adler, who also is the daughter of the company’s late founder, is considering additional pieces, such as ottomans and tables, with Riese’s leather inserts. But for now, the chair remains their sole collaboration, and it is on view and for sale at the brand’s Robertson Boulevard showroom.
