Something Blu

The Vancouver-based bath-ware manufacturer Blu Bathworks has added a new freestanding pedestal sink to its six-piece Halo collection, which first launched in 2011. Resembling a contemporary interpretation of an egg, the 2.5-foot-tall sink features a deep yet diminutive 1.6-foot-diameter washbasin, making it ideal for modern powder rooms, half baths, and small spaces where a full vanity is not needed. Though the standard white comes in both matte and gloss, several other color options are available including black, neutrals such as concrete gray and sand, and bold-statement colors including orange, lime, and yellow. All examples of the $3,000 sink can feature a customizable exterior embossed pattern of the buyer’s choosing and are fashioned from Blu Bathworks’ signature Blu stone material. Crafted primarily from hard quartzite, Blu stone resembles natural stone, but it is scratch-resistant and nonporous, and thus more durable. (blubathworks.com)
