Fernando Jorge is creating uniquely soft and flexible jewelry designs that underscore his native sensibility with curvaceous, fluid lines. Using delicate, bendable snake chain in long earrings and necklaces, with distinctive stone cuts and shapes, his pieces exude a fresh femininity that has given the young Brazilian a fast following.

After designing for various jewelers in Brazil, Jorge earned a master’s degree in jewelry design at the prestigious Central Saint Martins in London and launched his own eponymous collection in 2010. Now he divides his time between London, where he sketches his designs, and São Paulo, where the jewelry is made. He works with a range of gemstones, and typically has them cut to his specifications. “I’m especially drawn to emeralds, tanzanites, and opals lately,” he says. “Whether for their intensity of color or their softness, these stones have an aura of mystery that is really inspiring.” The collection ranges from about $1,200 to $40,000, and is sold at Grange Hall in Dallas as well as at fashionable international stores including Couturelab and Browns in London and Luisa via Roma in Florence, Italy. Jorge will make his debut at Barneys New York and LA this fall. (+44.20.7729.0126, www.fernandojorge.co.uk)
