FrontRunners: Envy of the Greens

<< Back to Robb Report, Muscle from Modena

For most amateur golfers, putter customization used to involve only the minute adjustments that some manufacturers make to the length and lie of their off-the-shelf models. However, London-based newcomer James Ingles Putters (www.jamesinglesputters.com), named for the company’s owner, now offers made-to-measure models and even allows golfers to design their own sticks. The putters are made in part by metalworkers and craftspeople from Charles Hellis & Sons, an English gunsmithy owned by Ingles’ father. Other British-based workshops contribute to the manufacturing process, enabling the company to produce putters in any shape, size, spec, or finish, and with myriad ornamentation.
