Golf with Greg Norman and Then Party with Him on Necker Island

The 2015 Necker Open includes 36 holes and four days on Richard Branson’s private Caribbean island…

If you dream of teeing off with a golf great like Greg Norman, the inaugural Necker Open Pro-Am Tournament may be your best shot. Scheduled for August 27 through September 1, the event will split time between the Sea Island Golf Club in Georgia and Necker Island in the Caribbean. Norman, formerly ranked the number one golfer in the world and nicknamed “the Shark,” will be circling the pins along with three other legends of the sport, all paired with teams of amateurs.

During the first two days, every team will play a nine-hole round with each famous player (a total of 36 holes) before flying by private jet to the British Virgin Islands and Sir Richard Branson’s exclusive retreat, Necker Island. Hosted by Branson himself, guests will have access to hiking, racing sailboats, kiteboarding, playing tennis, and trying to overcome the Necker 9—a series of unique golf challenges. Daily cocktails and dining with the billionaire entrepreneur are also on the menu, as is a closing-night beach party. Limited to 12 players, the all-inclusive package is priced at $80,000 for a team of two. The option to fly by private jet with the pros costs an additional $10,000 per team.

For those who want to earn their greens the old-fashioned way, Sea Island is holding the Necker Open Qualifier on August 25 through 28. The shamble-style tournament’s $9,750 entry fee for two (or $5,950 for a single player) will give golfers a chance to win a free spot in the Necker Open, including the trip to its namesake isle. It also grants access to the Necker Open’s charity dinner and auction on the night of August 27. All of the proceeds from the evening and a portion from both golf events will go to Virgin Unite, The Greg Norman Foundation, and several other players’ charities. (neckeropen.com)
